The 2019 MLA Annual Convention takes place in Chicago, 3–6 January, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Sheraton Grand Chicago, and Fairmont Chicago. Sessions will begin at 12:00 noon on 3 January, with workshops at 8:30 and 11:45 a.m. The last sessions will end at 3:00 p.m. on 6 January. We’re pleased to be collaborating with the American Historical Association, which will also hold its annual meeting in Chicago from 3 to 6 January. To promote interdisciplinary collaboration, the MLA and the AHA will honor each other’s attendee badges.
The MLA convention is more than just sessions. Make the most of your experience by connecting with your colleagues in the members’ lounges, at social events, and at the MLA Night Out. Visit the exhibit hall for the latest offerings and a free headshot, discover career opportunities at the Possible Futures Career Fair, sign up for a cultural excursion, and find some time to explore Chicago!
Need to know where to pick up your badge, how to bring a friend to the exhibit hall, or where to find a quiet space away from all the activity? You’ll find MLA policies, on-site resources, and lots of information about navigating the convention in our Information for Attendees.
The Information for Attendees is also your gateway to preview the convention’s many event highlights, the MLA Career Center, and the professional development sessions and events.
During the convention be sure to pick up the Convention Guide for helpful information that includes floor plans of the hotel meeting rooms and the exhibit hall. And don’t miss the three issues of the Convention Daily for updates on convention-related events and late changes to the program.
