Session Information

Description: Existing scholarship on the Ming novel Journey to the West has heavily focused on associating the novel’s religious vocabulary and mythical images with various possible religious practices and historical archetypes. Panelists explore new venues of studying the literary masterpiece, proposing four different approaches: literary adaptation, translation studies, a biblical textual research method, and the theory of affect.
